Sweet Baby "C"

So I met the most adorable little baby today. He was very pleasant, too, despite the fact he was tired. He loves to play with his toes and he was blabbering away telling me all sorts of stories. If only I knew what he was saying. Here is baby "C" with his parents. What a CUTE family!! I love seeing a new family together. It's days like this that reminds me why I love my job so much!! To capture these moments for this family to treasure forever. Melts my heart.

The "J" Family

There are times in your life when you meet someone and you know it was fate. Today was one of those days. Jennifer and her beautiful family came to me for updated family portraits. I don't think I've ever had so much fun on a shoot! She has the most handsome boys with the most adorable smiles. I fell in love. Her husband had me in tears from laughing. I could just see and feel the love this family had for one another. It's not every day you see a family so close. It's very refreshing. Jennifer and I talk almost daily now. I can honestly call her a true friend. I'd like you to meet the family that stole my heart.....

Country Sweethearts

Today's adventure was with Maddy and Ty at my Uncles farm. It was really a lot of fun. My Uncle brought out his tractor as a prop and the kids LOVED getting to sit on it and play around for a bit. And I had some old fashioned fishing poles made up with a stick and some twine. Little Ty really took it seriously thinking he was really going to catch a fish. Too cute.
Might I say that while Mr. Ty was more interested in playing in the dirt and with his puppy (although I did get some cute shots of him) his sister Maddy was a great little model. Her piercing blue eyes had me mesmerized. I asked her if she ever got tired of people telling her how beautiful her eyes are, "sometimes" she replied with a grin.
I had taken some gummy fruit snacks and juice boxes with me for after the kids were done with their pictures, and good thing I did because poor Mr. Ty wasn't having any pictures until he got fed, hahahaha. Which brought the parents and I into a conversation about how much kids eat. Once he ate we were good to go again with more pictures. It was so hard to pick my favorites, but here are a few. Enjoy!!

Curiosity

One of the things I love most about being a Mother AND a Photographer is being able to not only watch my children grow, explore and discover the world around them, but to be able to capture it as a keepsake. For myself. For them. For our future generations. It's the little things. The little details, as I've talked about before. Those things that can be so easily overlooked and forgotten. Yesterday was my oldest son, Samuel's, first encounter with a grass hopper. For us, as adults, it's not a big deal. For a child it's a very big deal. They say there is nothing new under the sun, but for a child EVERYTHING is new. Exciting. An adventure. I love how full my boys are of curiosity about the world around them. Never fails to amaze me.

Ballet Beauty

Miss Madison recently had a ballet recital and we thought it would be fun to do her dance portraits outdoors for a little something different. What a blast!! :)

Baby Cruz....3 Weeks New

How can you not fall in love with this little cutie?? This was my first newborn session and I was so excited, yet so nervous. I think he must have sensed my nervousness and fed off of it. I thought most babies slept 99% of the time at this age, but not this little guy. It took a few hours and a lot of feeding breaks to get him to finally calm down for 40 minutes so we could finally snap a few sleepy baby shots. Meet Mr. Cruz.

The Rodgers Family

Yet another beautiful family. I just never tire of capturing such special memories. And what a fun photo shoot, as well. Little Mr. Gage wasn't having anything to do with having his picture taken, but once Mama gave him is crayons, he didn't seem to care so much. And Ms. Morgan was a FANTASTIC model to say the least. Love, Love, Love this family!

Wiggin's Family

This adorable family stole my heart. It's so refreshing to see two young people still so in love after nearly 5 years of marriage. Sadly, it's rather uncommon to see these days. Not only did they love each other unconditionally, but the love they had for their children is unmeasurable. Meet the Wiggins family.

Forever in A Mother's Heart

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. ~Rajneesh

I've had the pleasure of capturing a lot of "Mommy & Me" play dates recently and, as a mother, it still never ceases to amaze me the love you can feel between a mother and child. I love how I can capture it on camera to treasure and cherish forever. There is no greater love than that of a Mother for her child and that of a child for his Mother. There is bond that can't be broken. A Mother carries her baby under her heart for 9 months, gives birth to a miracle....then holds his/her hand for the rest of their lives.....and lives on in their heart forever more.

Miss Madison

Now that spring is here.....or so says the calender.....I've been itching to get outside with my camera and FINALLY got the chance. I'd like to introduce you to Madison. She's the sweetest 9 year old girl I know. So quiet and timid....yet oh so sassy!! This girl has spunk, let me tell ya! But I also couldn't have gotten a better model! She was fantastic! Did everything I asked her to, posed, smiled, frowned on Que. I asked her if she felt like a supermodel and as her cheeks turned a little pink she giddily replied yes. I don't think I've had this much fun on a shoot in a long time. We have a couple more shoots scheduled for this little doll in the very near future, so stay posted for more of Miss Madison!

Dakota Marie

Photography is an art. Art is not perfect. That's the beauty in it. Resist perfection, you will never be satisfied. ♥

Those are the words my best friend gave me this morning after I was complaining about how much I'm beginning to despise studio photography. I can't ever seem to get my lighting or the edits just right. You have an idea of the perfect shot before the shoot, but of course you can NEVER count on that when photographing a child. Especially a baby. I was so discouraged this morning until I read those beautiful words. I feel a sense of renewal and can't wait to bust out my camera once again and see what I can come up with.

Although, I'm not going to lie. I still prefer outdoor on location photography and natural lighting MUCH better.

With all that said, I'd like to share a few pictures of my cousin Dakota. She's such a sweetheart and so beautiful.....but was NOT having her picture taken yesterday. Did NOT want her clothes changed a billion times. Did NOT want to stay on the backdrop or play with the props or smile or anything else for her Mommy. But I did capture a few cute pictures. Hope you enjoy them!

Details

Just another reason I love photography so much. I can forever capture the little details of every day life with my children. It's the little things that can be so easily forgotten. That I'm afraid to forget. The things that melt my heart. The wonder in their eyes as they discover the world around them. The dimples on their hands in place of knuckles. An odd or funny expression on their face. Holding Daddy's hand as they are unsure on their feet. Oh....those itty-bitty toes. I have an obsession for baby feet. Children grow up so fast. Before you know it all those "baby" features disappear. There is always more to capture, though. With each new day. Every age comes with something new I want to savor. If you follow this page long enough you will probably come to find I take a lot of random photos....things I like to call "Details." These are the little things I love about my kids and never want to forget. These are a few.....
